Exploring the heart of the astonishingly beautiful Nahuel Huapi National Park, we kick off with a journey following the shores af the aquamarine Lago Gutiérrez with the destination of Pampa Linda: a two and a half hour drive in a paradisical Lake District setting. Our route then follows the Lago Mascardi passing hidden beaches, lagoons and stunning views, to eventually take up the course of the Manso River upstream towards it source at Mount Tronador and arrive at the Hostería Pampa Linda, with one nights camping and traditional asado (bar-b-q) under the stars en route. With this historical and extraordinarily situated 3-star guest house then as our base, a number of day rides are on offer to explore Tronador’s millennial ice and more of the extraordinary features of the area.

Cerro Volcanico - studying the endless peaks and conical volcanoes in the distance in Chile (above)

Laguna Ilón - with its shimmering blue water and nearby breathtaking viewpoint of distant a Bariloche, hidden lakes, ancient forest and deep fjords, with condors soaring overhead

Mount Tronador’s Otto Meiling Refugio - situated at an altitude of 2000m right between two glaciers (and akin to a condor airport!)
