Local Lakeside Retreat (Riding with a Roof)

For families with young children or those less interested in sleeping out under the starry Patagonian skies around a camp fire, a stay at our local lakeside retreat with a resident horse-whisperer and daily riding (as much or as little as you please) still offers a fantastic authentic Patagonian experience along with top of the range luxuries...

Peuma Hue, or ‘Place of Dreams’ in native Mapuche indian, is our local lakeside paradise in the heart of the Patagonian Lake District. For us it is the ultimate retreat... an eco-resort come dreamland where extraordinary things happen to each and every visitor right before their eyes! A place of true harmony, magic and pure air; a place to absorb the energy of the sun whilst marvelling over the expanses of pure crystal-clear Patagonian water and their beautiful reflections; a place to gaze at the moon and the Patagonian stars, and feel the undefinable yet overwhelming energy of this wondrous and enchanting location. The magic of Peuma Hue touches everyone, truly and deeply, it’s divine.

The 500 acre Carre Lauquen Estate lies within the Nahuel Huapi National Park 25km from the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, yet a world away. Its location is at the Continental Divide - the median line of the continent where the waters descending from the Cordillera de Los Andes divide to continue their oceanbound paths - east across the Patagonian Steppe to the Atlantic Ocean and west through the Andes range to the Pacific.

Picture yourself in paradise, relaxing under a tree, watching its brilliantly coloured leaves blowing in the breeze and carrying your wishes to the heavens... awaiting sunset or the next hand-crafted meal, or perhaps enjoying some of the incredible activities made possible by the extraordinary setting: riding (as much or little as you like) and spending time with the freely roaming horses and resident horse-whisperer Cris, kayaking, fly fishing, reading, indulging in a massage, some yoga, thai chi or meditation or a concert in the Temple, wine tasting, cocktails and cookery classes, and wandering freely some of the two miles of beach, mountainside and its pristine forests, creeks and waterfalls, or the 120 acres of forested valley brimming with Patagonia’s stunning flora and fauna.... Peuma Hue provides an opportunity for close contact with nature like you've never experienced before, and is also a place for connection with one another and animals...it is like nowhere else on earth.

Now in its tenth year, this family run project is lead by the delightful, smiling and welcoming Evelyn. Guests are immediately made to feel at home in one of the 12 beautiful and exclusive rooms spread over the estancia’s two houses, log cabin and hidden mountain cabin. The amazing menus, as exquisite as they are healthy, are homemade, balanced and organic, and ingredients are hand-picked every day from the estancia’s organic vegetable garden. The Peuma Hue family have created something astonishing over the last decade, and their love for nature, and opening new connections among their guests and their staff is obvious, as well as the highly personal touch they provide.

Please contact us for more details about a stay at Peuma Hue: an unmissable opportunity to open your minds and souls, meet other guests, and relax in a way you never thought possible. Enjoy, indulge and leave feeling ten years younger with new prospectives, new friendships and a new awareness of nature.

“...This is a place that reminds you of what it is to be human. The grandeur of nature, the harmonious company of animals, the opportunities offered by deep conversation with people from all over the globe. We thank you so much for bringing us into your family.

With love and appreciation, Barbara and Don, OH, USA”

“...There is eco-tourism and eco-tourism. Peuma Hue is eco-tourism with class, with elegance, with refinement. The attention to detail, the perfect scenery, the peace and quiet, the freedom and joy of the rabbits, the puppies and the horses, the friendliness of the staff and the extremely delicious food (which I unsuccessfully tried to stop eating when my jeans started shrinking) make this place a piece of Heaven. We’ve been looking for it for many years. Who would have thought that our place of dreams was somewhere down in Argentina? :o) A big hug from the Australian – Romanian family living in Ukraine - Ron, Ramona, Amanda and Neea, Kiev”

“...An experience I had with my ten year old son yesterday sums our collective feelings of this spiritually moving place. As he and I walked across the lawn from the lake in the late afternoon, we looked to the spire rocks above and he said to me, “this feels like Heaven….. I hope Heaven is this nice….”. We feel blessed to have experienced such a pristine world of the cleanest air, purest water and fantastic unspoiled vistas. You all are wonderful stewards to some of the last places on earth that have not suffered from from the ever dangerous behaviors of man. Thank you for sharing, thank you for embracing our children´s infinite wonder at a place so beautiful, and thank you for your generous and truly genuine warm welcome. It is our dream to return to share another brisk night, moonlight glowing in the stream, the lake and illuminating the fields of snow high above. Simple magic on earth. Thanks so much, Kelli, John, Ainsley, Jack and Eliot, North Carolina, USA”
